James Lounge

This project challenged us, as students, to reimagine an existing space to create a neurodiverse-friendly environment. We thoroughly assessed and redesigned a space within Tulane's LBC

Our work was guided by the question:
“How might James Lounge be transformed into a neurodivergent-centered space that fosters rest, supports emotional regulation and well-being, provides sanctuary, and encourages hyper-focus?”

Collaborated with:

Ella Touchstone
Cole Hildebrandt
Estefania Cardona Forero
Julia Aronberg
Emilia Bertoli

Responsibilities:

Research
Zoning
3D physical model

Group Work

Each group member individually designed and iterated on different features of the space, incorporating their ideas into the final model

Zoning

The design considers noise and comfortability, with the space ‘divided’ into different zones that grow from silent study spaces to collaborative spaces that support all

3D model

The creation of the 3D model involved continuous iterations, incorporating the group's evolving ideas

Proposal Exhibit

The team presented the project to their peers and the director of the space
